The program supports the vision of serving newcomers that they may socialize with long-time residents to promote healthy and active aging - physical, mental and social well-being.  The program focuses on team building activities and leadership to promote comaraderie and volunteerism.  Certified instructors facilitate the well-thought out program.


Richmond Programs:


Seniors Health and Wellness Program

 

This program focuses on body-mind rejuvenation and team building activities that help overall health and well-being. These activities are led by certified facilitators who aim to provide participants a comfortable and convenient environment where everyone can participate and promote healthy and active aging.

 

  • Dance Therapy (Zumba and other forms of dance)
  • Yoga and Pilates
  • Cultural Dance
  • Meditation
  • Food Skills Workshops
  • Community Service Activities
  • Leadership skills workshops
  • Community outreach activities

 

Educational Workshops:

The periodic educational workshops provides information and raise awareness on the selected topics so the seniors may know the community resources available to them.  Workshops provided are the Interactive Food Skills for Families, Legal Guardianship, Wills and Inheritance, Understanding Community Resources, Mental Health, Healthy Body – Cardio and Movement and Life Skills workshops.

 

 

Physical and Mental Activity Workshops:

The weekly Fitplus, Yoga and Pilates improves health and the quality of life.  It prevents or delays the onset of disease.  Memory  board games lowers the risk of mental illness.  Field trips, outdoor games and activities promote communication and adaptability.  Outreach cultural dance and music performances encourages volunteerism while building confidence in communication skills and in group collaboration and cooperation. 

 

 

Post Workshop Gatherings:

The weekly post workshop gatherings are a means to communicate and build stronger ties.  A safe and relaxed environment to share information or experiences faced by mature clients in their daily living.

 

 

Community Events and Festivals:

A means to raise awareness of own culture and traditions and collaborate with the culturally diverse community building friendship and harmony and boost community partnership.

Annual Philippine Flag-Raising Ceremony, Steveston Salmon Festival, Richmond World Festival and I Love Culture in Richmond.  Mother Language Festival in Surrey.
